How to Test AI Auto Trading on an MT5 Demo Account

Set up a TickerAI auto-trading demo test with a supported MT5 account, symbol whitelist, strategy instructions, risk limits, and an execution review checklist.

By TickerAI

To test AI auto trading on MT5, connect a supported demo account, define a bounded strategy and risk settings, and review the agent's decisions alongside actual broker orders. A useful first test checks whether the system behaves as specified before judging returns.

Demo fills and trading conditions may differ from live execution. A successful demo session demonstrates behavior under those test conditions; it does not establish a profitable live strategy.

1. Check access and prerequisites

TickerAI Auto Trading requires an eligible Pro or Max plan, available credits, a supported connected MT5 account with full access, and acceptance of the risk notice. Execution must also be enabled by the service. A read-only connection cannot place orders.

Choose a demo account you can also inspect directly in MT5. Confirm the account number and broker server carefully so the test runs on the intended account. Never send broker credentials as an ordinary chat message.

2. Connect the demo account

Open Accounts in TickerAI and choose the option to connect an MT5 account. Search for the broker, select its published server, and provide the demo login through the connection form. Give the account a clear name such as “Demo execution test.”

Wait for the account to show as connected and check that its balance and currency match MT5. If the broker or server is unavailable, resolve that prerequisite before attempting to start a session.

3. Define a small, observable test

Open Auto Trading and select New session. Choose the demo account and a narrow list of symbols. A short whitelist makes it easier to review decisions and detect an unexpected instrument.

Write strategy instructions that contain observable conditions. For example:

On the selected symbol, evaluate completed 15-minute candles. Explain the trend, proposed invalidation, and target before any entry. If the setup is unclear, wait. Do not interpret the test goal as a requirement to force a trade.

This describes a test instruction, not a proven strategy. Specify entry and exit conditions more precisely if you intend to evaluate strategy consistency.

4. Configure the session limits

Review the goal, risk per trade, maximum open positions, minimum reward-to-risk, drawdown stop, credit budget, and available scheduling controls. Use an end time or holding-time limit where appropriate to your test.

SettingQuestion it answers
Allowed symbolsWhich markets may the agent trade?
Risk per tradeWhat is the planned loss budget per position?
Position limitHow much concurrent activity is permitted?
Drawdown stopWhen should the session stop because equity fell?
Credit budgetHow much AI usage can this test consume?
GoalWhat condition can end the session successfully?

A profit goal is a stopping condition, not a promised outcome. Monitoring and close requests take time, so a drawdown threshold is not a guarantee of the final loss.

5. Observe decisions and broker state

Use the session transcript, positions, orders, trade list, and balance/equity view. Compare the exact symbol, volume, entry, stop, and target with MT5. Record cases where the agent waits or an order is refused.

TickerAI schedules AI checks and also responds to relevant account events. It is not a guarantee of continuous, instant reaction to every price tick. Shorter check intervals can consume credits faster when model calls run.

6. Test how stopping works

Before leaving the session, inspect the stop action and any option to close the session's positions. Confirm the resulting broker state, including pending orders. Ending the reasoning loop and removing market exposure are separate outcomes that should both be verified.

Review the completed session using MT5 trade-history analysis. Compare behavior with your written plan, including sizing errors, rejected orders, and costs. For context on permissions, read AI assistants versus trading bots.

Automated trading can lose money. Demo testing is a controlled way to inspect the workflow, not evidence that live results will match it.
