How to Use an AI Crypto Market Scanner to Build a Watchlist

Build a crypto trading watchlist using trend, RSI, breakouts, and volatility. Learn what TickerAI's scanner scores mean and how to verify a shortlist before trading.

By TickerAI

A crypto market scanner reduces a list of symbols to a smaller set worth inspecting. Its output should explain why a market appeared on the shortlist. A ranking is a research filter, not a calibrated probability that a trade will win.

The useful workflow is to scan a defined universe, inspect the underlying charts, and apply execution and risk checks before considering an order.

Define the universe and timeframe

Start with the pairs you can actually access and understand. BTCUSDT and a broker's BTC CFD may have different prices, costs, contract rules, and trading conditions. Analysis from one venue does not automatically transfer to another.

Choose a timeframe consistent with the question. An hourly trend scan and a one-minute entry decision describe different horizons. Record the scan time so a shortlist can be reproduced or discarded when stale.

TickerAI retrieves its public crypto candles from Binance. Its crypto-majors preset contains a defined symbol set; it is not an exhaustive scan of every listed token.

Use indicators to describe conditions

Trend, momentum, range breaks, and volatility answer different questions:

InputUseful questionLimitation
Moving averagesIs price aligned with a directional structure? They summarize past prices and can lag turns
RSIIs recent momentum stretched or changing? An extreme is not automatically a reversal
Prior rangeHas price moved beyond a recent high or low?A break can fail or occur on an unfinished candle
ATRHow large have recent ranges been?It measures magnitude rather than direction

Combining indicators does not necessarily create independent evidence. Several can react to the same price move.

Understand TickerAI's scanner score

TickerAI's current scanner uses explicit rules involving the 20/50 EMA relationship, a prior 20-bar range, RSI conditions, and volatility inputs. Results include signal descriptions so the model can explain the ranking.

Positive scores favor long-side conditions and negative scores favor short-side conditions. A negative value is not automatically a low-quality market; it can indicate a short-oriented pattern. Ask for direction and signal explanations rather than reading the sign as a quality grade.

The score is not a trained probability estimate or a backtested return forecast. A score of four does not mean an 80% win rate, and twice the score does not justify twice the position size.

Turn a shortlist into a watchlist

For each candidate, inspect the chart at the same timeframe used by the scan. Confirm the range levels, indicator state, and whether the latest candle is complete. Reject results with missing or insufficient history.

Then define a condition to watch rather than entering because the asset ranked first. A hypothetical watchlist item could say: “Review only after a completed hourly close above the prior range, then check whether the retest holds.” It should also state what would invalidate the observation.

Check spreads and venue-specific execution details separately. Several crypto positions can move together, so a long shortlist does not imply diversified exposure.

A prompt that keeps the analysis bounded

Scan the crypto-majors preset on the one-hour timeframe. Separate long and short conditions, state the data source and scan time, and explain the signals for a short watchlist. Identify missing data. Do not describe scores as win probabilities.

Follow with:

Chart one candidate at the same timeframe. Show the level to watch, the invalidation, and what would make you wait. Explain differences if the execution venue is not the analysis venue.

TickerAI's public crypto analysis does not require a connected broker account. That does not imply Binance trade execution is available: executable account workflows use supported broker connections and permissions.

Before considering a setup, use the risk-to-reward guide and pre-trade checklist, adapting contract and venue checks to crypto. Scans help organize attention; they do not establish that a trading edge exists.
