Connect MT5 to an AI Trading Assistant with Read-Only Access
Understand MT5 investor passwords versus full trading access. Connect a supported account to TickerAI for analysis, check the server, and verify permissions.

MT5 investor access lets software observe an account without the trading rights provided by a master login. If your goal is to review performance or analyze broker-sourced charts, that separation can help you start with the permissions needed for observation.
Read-only access still exposes account information to the connected service. Treat it as a permission choice, not a claim that no sensitive data is shared.
Investor password versus master password
MetaTrader distinguishes investor and master authorization. Investor authorization permits account observation but does not grant trading rights; master authorization provides broader account control. The official account-connection guide explains the distinction.
A product's access selector and the credentials used at the broker are separate layers. Where available, use the broker's actual investor credentials as well as selecting a read-only connection in the application. Do not assume that renaming an account “read only” changes its permissions.
Broker support and account configuration vary. Obtain or manage credentials through the broker's current approved process or the relevant MT5 settings, rather than following instructions for an unrelated broker.
Check the account identity before connecting
Write down the broker, exact server, account number, account currency, and whether the account is demo or live. A correct account number with the wrong server can still fail to connect.
Compare the server with the value shown in your working MT5 login. Marketing names and server labels are not always interchangeable. Do not select a similarly named server simply because it appears near the top of a list.
Keep passwords out of ordinary chat messages, screenshots, shared documents, and issue reports. Use the designated connection form when providing credentials to a service you have chosen to trust.
Connect a supported account in TickerAI
In TickerAI, open Accounts and the MT5 connection form. Search for the broker, select the exact published server, enter the account number and intended password, and choose Read-only as the access level.
Give the connection a descriptive label, such as “Demo account analysis,” so later prompts identify the correct account. The label is for organization; it does not replace checking the actual account details.
Connection availability depends on supported brokers, the service configuration, and your plan's account allowance. A broker not appearing in the supported list is a prerequisite to resolve, rather than a reason to substitute another broker's server.
Verify observation before requesting analysis
After the connection reports success, compare the displayed balance, currency, and current positions with MT5. Check that values are recent. A connected badge alone does not establish that every requested field is available or synchronized.
A practical first prompt is: “List this account's identity, balance, current positions, and pending orders using available broker data. State what you could not retrieve. Do not propose or attempt an order.”
Then request a bounded review, such as the latest month of closed activity. Ask the assistant to distinguish retrieved deal records from a complete statement, especially when a tool applies a result limit.
What read-only access can support
TickerAI's connected-account tools can retrieve performance data, deals, positions, and broker candles where supported. That can help with trade review and forex chart analysis without opening positions through the read-only connection.
The execution path checks that an account is connected with full access before it places an order. Other requirements, including the risk acknowledgement, trading settings, eligible features, and server execution availability, also apply to executable workflows.
If you later want to test automation, treat that as a separate permission decision. Use a clearly identified demo account and follow the AI auto-trading demo guide rather than upgrading access casually during a performance review.
Handle failures and revocation deliberately
If login fails, verify broker, server, account number, credential type, and current credential validity. Share sanitized error text when asking for help; remove passwords and unnecessary account identifiers.
Removing a connection in one application and revoking broker credentials are different actions. If you need to revoke access, use the provider's and broker's current controls and verify the result. Do not assume that hiding an account card changes credentials already shared.
Continue with MT5 trade-history analysis for a structured review and AI assistants versus bots for execution authority. Read-only access defines what the connection may do; it does not make the assistant's analysis infallible.
